One hundred years of operation have generated a number of successful logistics practices for Blue Bell Creameries, including its inventory rotation of perishable raw goods such as milk, eggs, nuts and fruit. But as Blue Bell grew and increased output, company executives recognized the need to improve production lot control and traceability and standardize inventory procedures across its four production plants, which meant automating data collection across their supply chain. The ideal supply chain solution would have to meet the company’s functionality requirements, as well as integrate seamlessly with the Oracle® Process Manufacturing (OPM) software already in use in its production facilities.
